Destroying our finances and our land, nice. She doesn’t dare reopen the coal mines first, Thatcher idoliser.
“as part of”
ah, you mean “to be piggybacked alongside, so any opponent can be called against helping working families”
This isn’t going to help the situation at all. These companies extracting this fuel aren’t going to sell it at below market rate, are they?
This is simply going to make these companies even richer, while fucking the environment even further.
What a shock that the former Shell lobbyist introduces this on only her second day in charge. Evil cunt.
Sussy Trussy frack me harder.
They could have taxed the energy producers and taken those loans out to a) help bring down bills but also make us more energy independent as in, solar panels, wind mills etc… idiots the lot of them
Nice, let’s fuck up our natural areas of beauty as well so we can have shit in the water, and shit on the land too!
Great, let’s poison our water supply forevermore so we can line the pockets of the energy companies for a few more years.
You know, I might not oppose this if ALL of the revenues from it were directed into Nuclear / renewable and carbon capture projects. Of course I’d also like to see a strict ‘no Tory donor criteria’ on that as well.
In fact, when we do get a Labour government, they should make that policy across the board. Ever donated to the Tory party, no contracts for you ever.
Her”cant use valuable agricultural land” for solar is disingenuous. Not like we are short of South facing slope, too steep for fk all else or old industrial slag heaps eh
Reminder that the energy companies have already said that fracking in the UK would not reduce UK consumer prices.
All this does is give them yet more profit.
I used to be a tory voter. As someone who lived 2 miles from a fracksite and first hand felt the earthquakes, this has swung me. I was overjoyed when Bojo banned it. Now this tundercunt has undone what he did. Gutted the next general election is 3 years away.
Serious question though, will it actually get approved? There was staunch resistance last time, the policing operation cost millions due to the protestors (which pissed me off at the time but now fully support them handcuffing themselves to HGV’s) and I feel that the resistance this time, even from senior politicians will be stronger. Milliband was on the news before calling it an outrage.
I think getting frack sites sorted could be even harder this time than the first time around.
Who would have thought,
Liz Truss an ex oil company employee would NOT have a windfall tax and would happily fuck/frack the North, whilst refusing to put up cheap, instant land based wind turbines because it might spoil a tory voters view from their holiday home.
She has no interest in energy independence or a quick fix whilst we can drill and subsidise that drilling at tax payers expense.
….. Because cunt
Big energy shill shilling for the energy companies? My gob is smacked… Smacked I tell you!
I saw a statement that it would take 6000 extra wells to replace 50% of our gas imports on top of the 200 we have right now.
Most would be around the midlands and I got to be honest if there’s even as low as a 5% chance of harming/ effecting the water tables we really shouldn’t do it. The long term risk is so high, especially now we are very much aware of the severity lack of water causes. It would be a problem for 100’s of years.
Thank god! It may be more expensive, take longer to implement, cause earthquakes, foul our water and tear up the countryside, but that is a small price to pay to not have to look at HIDEOUS SOLAR PANELS!
/s if that wasn’t obvious enough.
Why they refuse to lower the prices? It feels like a scam, it will allow them more profit, but none of that will help an average Brit.
Don’t tell me, the south get the oil and the north the earthquakes.
Just kill us all now and get it over with FFS if you’re going to do this when the planet is already at the stage where it’s baking
Considering that this situation is like a national emergency, why hasn’t the government commit to converting every sewage treatment plant in the country to one of these?
Screeching U turn when she realises that a lot of fracking is going to be in tory strongholds.
No steps forward, three steps back. Raw sewage is once again flowing in our waterways. I wonder if the return of leeching also help out with the NHS waiting times?
She’ll be selling us cheap bottled water after the gas companies poison the water table and we’ll still be fucking cheering
Food for thought:
If the £100 billion this mad bint is planning on giving to the energy companies as ‘compensation’ was used for renewables, then pretty much every house in the UK could get better insulation, solar panels and storage batteries.
Instead of that she’s just giving her old pals a free Christmas courtesy of the tax payer.
I keeping hearing that we can’t take money from Shell/BP because it will “harm investment” but where is that £170B going exactly? Is that being invested in green/renewable energy sources in the UK? What percentage is being “invested” and into what exactly? Because it sounds like it’s a bullshit argument based on ideology rather than any semblance of factual data.
Pretty sure I read we’d need around 20,000 of these fracking sites to get us up and running with the energy we need…we currently have 2.
Evil
Hopefully our first ever test site won’t restart as each time it caused tremors they were worse than the last and the rules forced lengthy stops. Wherever fracking takes place the ground water is polluted and tremors destroy houses.
I DID NOT VOTE FOR THIS THIS IS MY COUNTRY YOU ARE RUINING WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS
So basically with this and the new oil drilling licenses; the new PM has basically said fuck you to the environment and sold out to energy companies?
Nobody voted for it. Get the squatter out of No.10 and have a proper election so we can pick the Labour party, windfall tax the oil companies and fix the problems without causing literal earthquakes in the process.

We can get gas from sewage treatment plants like this: [https://www.thameswater.co.uk/about-us/newsroom/latest-news/2021/jul/deephams-biomethane-plant](https://www.thameswater.co.uk/about-us/newsroom/latest-news/2021/jul/deephams-biomethane-plant)
