So is it just me/my region (masuria) or did the European Mantis have some sort of a huge population increase this year?

This last month I’ve seen more mantis’ than I’ve seen these dumb flying beetles, probably around 15 of em while gardening and going on walks. Before that I’ve only seen a mantis once in my life, 5 years ago in Warsaw climbing a wall. Either way I’m happy to see them around and I’m posting this only because someone may find it interesting!

This species is protected in Poland. According to this article ([https://gazetapowiatowa.pl/wiadomosci/wieliszew/wieliszew-modliszki-wstrzymaja-budowe-8-blokow-przy-szpitalu-onkologicznym-mieszkanka-sfotografowala-tym-terenie-chronione-owady/](https://gazetapowiatowa.pl/wiadomosci/wieliszew/wieliszew-modliszki-wstrzymaja-budowe-8-blokow-przy-szpitalu-onkologicznym-mieszkanka-sfotografowala-tym-terenie-chronione-owady/)) appearance of mantes blocked some construction works in Wieliszew (next to Legionowo, 30 km from Warsaw).

  2. Saw some in Wrocław last month, definitely unusual.
