Hello everyone, I’m wondering if watching the films or the TV shows on the ZDF website is free for Germany or non-EU countries if it is accessible. Das Erste has also some movies or tv shows on his website.

For example: [https://www.zdf.de/serien](https://www.zdf.de/serien)

or [https://www.daserste.de/unterhaltung/film/der-donnerstags-krimi/videos/der-amsterdam-krimi-das-maedchen-ohne-namen-video-100.html](https://www.daserste.de/unterhaltung/film/der-donnerstags-krimi/videos/der-amsterdam-krimi-das-maedchen-ohne-namen-video-100.html)

Where can I check, if it is free or it needs membership?

Thanks in advance

  1. There are no “memberships”. If there isn’t any geoblocking and the content is accessible, then it’s accessible. You can check this by trying to watch.

  2. You can watch them for free in Germany, as you already paid for them with Rundfunkgebühren. I don’t think you can watch them from outside of Germany.

  3. There is no membership for ARD or ZDF since they are funded by radio tax. If you can access them, they are usually for free.

If you are a resident in Germany you have to pay the radio tax.
