UK watchdog to examine whether telecoms companies mislead customers

  1. When I joined BT they were very clear that their prices would rise by the CPI plus 3.9% every March. I don’t know about other providers but BT made sure I understood that when I joined.

  2. I was well aware that my provider increases rates by CPI + 3.9%. The problem isn’t that I’m unaware, the problem is that they’re allowed to do it. They’re all doing it because the government told them to do it, so it isn’t like I can switch to one who doesn’t. Although my current provider has so far always provided a cheaper deal when I’ve rung up at renewal time anyway (but customers shouldn’t have to do that, and probably the companies rely on most not doing so).
