Doesn’t need to have a gun to justify the police shooting him.
Every police shooting is investigated pretty seriously. I have a lot of issues with the Met Police but they’re hardly trigger-happy. This is the first police shooting this year in the entire country, we’re in September. This isn’t America where the police started randomly shooting in all directions if someone says boo.
Nobody here knows the circumstances of this shooting so there is nothing to be gained by jumping to conclusions. Wait and see. You simply cannot know if the police had a legitimate reason to shoot or if they didn’t.
I expected this.
Eye witnesses said he was trying to ram the police officers who were stood outside of their cars. So if that is the case, the shooting makes sense.
Chris Kaba aka Mad Itch (think itchy trigger finger) was a drug dealer with a history for firearms use.
He led them on a chase involving 5 police cars and a helicopter.
His enemies aka “opps” said “RIP but he was gonna get killed eventually” by them apparently.
He lived a life that got him to this ending, as unfortunate as it is, he plays a part in this. He wasn’t some innocent kid as his family are trying to portray him as.
Occupational hazard in the road business.
As someone who knows people who’ve lost their lives to gangsters, I actually don’t have much sympathy.
Also this victim mentality of blaming everything on racism is getting tired. Some days take accountability for your own actions.
Conflicting reports and witness statements at the moment need a comprehensive and unbiased sequence of events. For example one that I saw claimed the car was immobilised via tactical contact from the police and boxed in before they shot him, while others say he attempted to ram officers before being shot. Obviously if the vehicle was immobilised I’d assume it would mean he would be unable to move the car and ram officers. No justification for the death.
The race-baiting by foreign and domestic trolls around these kind of stories is rampant. Be extremely skeptical of anything you read online, particularly extreme anti-police or racist (obviously) takes.
I’m a little disappointed that the BBC have given so many column inches to the narrative that he was shot because he was black without any evidence to support it.

Nothing beats releasing tiny bits of information piecemeal to make sure that public speculation is really kept under control
I just don’t see how this could possibly be a racism case?
Dealer known for carrying a gun
Allegedly kept trying to ram through the police cars after getting trapped following a chase, a car is still a deadly weapon
It wasn’t a random stop, his car was flagged from a recent gun crime case
Plus it’s the first, and likely only police shooting of the year, we aren’t America
Like..in all measures the guy brought it on himself by being a violent psycho. I don’t blame his family for an outcry, he was still their son, but the sad fact is this guy was a thug and is the one in the wrong
Guy with a public history of firearms offences and music videos talking about committing violent crimes. Yet the first thing his parents do is cry racism. I would be embarrassed to death if my parents did this with one of my siblings.
Perhaps if they weren’t so foolish and willfully blind to their son’s actions he wouldn’t have grown up to be a worthless criminal in the first place?
I’m starting to believe this is exactly why Khan is so hands-off on knife crime/gang violence and only pays lip service to it – there is no solution to the problem because you will always be accused of racism, so just let them continue killing eachother. When they start killing or threatening to kill non-criminals (as seems to have happened here) in notable numbers, then something more effective will be done about it.
As if the police needed more bad publicity after Sarah Everard…
I don’t know the details of this incident, so I will refrain from making judgement until I know the full story. On a personal level it is a tragedy that this young man died.
However, I think it is HIGHLY unlikely to have been affected because he was black.

News like this really isn’t helping to eleviate tensions. If anything it is stoking it. They should have learnt after Mark Duggan the importance of communicating properly.
One think Police could learn from the US is to release bodycam and other relevant footage promptly.
Irrespective of whether officers acted properly.
Releasing footage has literally defused riots.
Rumour and heresay are rife because they are the only thing to fill the vacuum of information.
This threads about to be a nuance free shitshow.
Feel bad for mans family, can’t be good having your son killed by the cops.
Redditors out in force to defend the police shooting of an unarmed man
As of right now I can’t see how the police are justified here. Just having a car that was flagged in a gun crime can’t be enough to just shoot dead someone, even if they’re ramming you. I suspect there’s more to it, but I would’ve hoped there was visual confirmation of a gun before shooting.
The BBC terrify me.
Anyone being killed by police is horrible and obviously does need to be investigated. That said, this guy was arrested in 2018 for having a gun. He was in a violent gang. He was in a police chase with armed police. And reportedly he was attempting to kill police officers with his car when he was shot. Perhaps most importantly since it’s an undeniable fact: This is the first fatal police shooting this year (and it’s fucking September).
All of this clearly suggests that the Met are not trigger happy and that this has nothing to do with race.
And yet, the BBC are making huge efforts to suppress facts like his previous arrests and highlight nonsense like his family lying about his lifestyle and the lack of a weapon. A car is a weapon! If he was ramming police of course they can shoot. Imagine it was you someone was trying to kill with a car, would you still have a problem with an officer shooting at them?
The BBC here are clearly making an effort to stoke racial tensions and it’s working amazingly. All over social media you have people saying this was “yet another” case of the met executing a black man in the street for… being black. It’s sickening what the media have done here. They’re creating dangerous racial division completely unnecessarily. This has long term effects and they don’t go away if the investigation comes out showing that this guy was killed lawfully. Nobody remembers and the BBC won’t be devoting a week of high level coverage to it.
If you remove yourself from this crazy media narrative for a second you might even feel some sympathy for the police officer who was likely forced to kill this man to save their colleagues. Where’s the consideration for them? Seriously, they risk their lives protecting you and your families from people like this and all they get is implicit accusations that they are a racist scumbag from our “unbiased” state news organisation.
From my perspective: a drug dealer is off the streets. I see this as an absolute win
Play stupid games win stupid prizes is all that comes to mind.
Aspiring footballer, rapper and expectant father. Family said he was the most kindest, caring, generous man anyone could know….
Once again families wheel out the good photos of their thug criminal child and the media panders to them.
Remember the shots they used of Mark Duggan? Family gatherings, posing at a graveside or whatever. Yet if you looked online you could find lots and lots of hood-style shots.
Another violent criminal costing the taxpayer a fucking fortune.
> Commander Alexis Boon, from the Met, said: “I understand that this incident is extremely concerning and I would like to reassure the community that the Met is co-operating fully with the IOPC as they carry out a thorough and independent investigation.”
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Meanwhile, tell us again what the officers on the door at Downing Street saw?
Oh right… That’s being kept a secret because it might embarrass the Met.
But they’re totally not going to do that _this time_ because….
Whilst I agree he was a criminal. He did serve time for his crime. The police are there to arrest and not be the judge and executioner. Let’s wait for the investigation to decide if it was lawful or not
