Cost of living: Disabled man struggling to pay his carers

  1. It is mad he is not under continuing healthcare (NHS CHC) as he clearly has a significant level of need and requires support. Whole point of it being there.

Someone on behalf of the council, usually a social worker, would carry out the check list and then refer him on for an assessment with them. He clearly has a condition which is not going to improve.

  2. Sounds more like a case of a bureaucratical administration error, rather than any sort of “cost of living crisis”.

I’m sure he just needs a professional social worker in the council to review his case for him and fix the error in his paperwork to assign him with the appropriate care he needs.

  3. We can’t even get a carer right now. It’s been 3 months and there is noone, they just can’t find anyone to do it.

And I really don’t blame the workers, they get paid shit, are consantly tracked and treated like piss. If I could afford to pay them well, I would, but we rely on benefits.

The thing is, even though it seems expensive to keep people at home to care for them, it’s still far cheaper (and more humane) than putting them into a facility.
