
I don’t know what to make of [this news story](https://apnews.com/article/germany-climate-and-environment-78416a3d30cf4438fbeb719520a33921).

On one hand, I agree that climate change is the Zeitgeist. Every entity that contributes to it should be held accountable.
On the other hand, VW alone has not caused it. (And the action is only against VW, not even other automobile manufacturers)…
By this token, state policy that allows polluting industries to flourish are guiltier? Beef-producing farmers are guilty too. The airline industry too. So, what is this case supposed to achieve?

I think it is a courts job to give the plaintiff the possibility to bring forth their case – how weird it may sound at the beginning. From your source I gather that all they did was giving them more time until February to gather more documents to build up their claims. Not anything more.
