Prime Minister of Norway rejects EU’s wish of a gas price cap

  1. It’s not a big deal, there are plenty of ways to cover the cost of no cap in future dealings with Norway. It’s a bit of extra work but the EU rarely forgets.

  2. Reading the article in Norwegian the headline appears to be incorrect.

It says that: “Støre (Norwegian PM) rejects European gas wish. It is not I (Norwegian government) that sells the gas”.

So his argument is that it is companies that sells the gas on short term contracts by EU preference, and he sees no problem with EU renegotiating with those companies for long term contracts instead.

  3. Quite dumb to blame Norway for making money. They are also aren’t the only ones. Many Energy companies in the west now make absolute bank.

So are crisis …there will be winners of a crisis and losers.

  4. The European Union is rambling and trying to solve the energy prices on paper. Cutting prices, even making gas free won’t solve the main problem – that there is a lack of energy.

Going all Soviet Union with planned economy is not going to solve anything, and forcing “their friend”, Norway, to give them cheap gas isn’t very friendly at all.

Listening to the EU president Ursula von der Leyen makes me laugh in disbelief, she is so incredibly stupid.

  5. It costs what it costs, should have thought of that before becoming totally dependent on hydrocarbons.

I doubt France is complaining (as much).

  6. Germany: Dismantle their own nuclear power plants -> rely on Russia for gas -> ???? -> blame Norway
