UK gamblers could be asked for payslips to stop unaffordable losses

  1. Wouldn’t want to slay the goose that lays the golden eggs now would we, this way we know exactly how much we can fleece them for. – Bookmakers, probably.

  2. Gambling needs to be banned from advertising like cigarettes. Betting shops need to be legally required to have plain windows. Gambling companies need to be charged an obscenely high tax on operating to make them even less profitable on top of those measures. Then they need to be introducing the suggested measures after those.

  3. The cynic in me thinks they want this so they don’t accidentally loan money to gamblers that wont be able to afford the debt rather than trying to stop the massive problem gambling loses are causing to society.

  4. I would suggest that if you are OK with showing your payslip to a bookie then you are already in too deep.

  5. The abandoned super casino concept would have been more effective at reducing gambling and less damaging than the current rules on machines and amount of betting adverts shoved down peoples throats for every single sports event.

  6. Been happening for quite a while for some, a guy I watch on YouTube has had to produce proof of worth for quite a few sites.

As an aside, I was a bad gambler, joined Gamstop around 5 years ago, best £20 I’ve ever spent, but I can guarantee at 645pm every night I’ll get a text from a gambling site saying “no gamstop, free 200% sign up bonus”, luckily all the gamble has gone out of me but that sort of crap is totally wrong.
