Avanti West Coast: Government considers withdrawing rail operator’s contract

  1. Doesn’t matter who has the franchise. There will still be staff shortages. There physical isn’t enough drivers and guards to operate this service.

You can’t expect staff to carry on doing volunteer overtime then be shocked when they are burnt out and stopped. Especially when there is strike action with ASLEF, RMT and TSSA because of pay negotiations.

Granted the industry is facing years of driver shortage’s. There are many waiting for training in talent pools. If the government really want to help out they need to help with the training bottle neck.
