They’ll charge you through the arse for them most of the solar companies taking the piss with massive markups on labour and materials. Have a look at mid summer solar to see what panels and associated equipment actually cost then compare it to quotes you receive.
Activ8 quoted us double what we ended up getting our system for, lots of hard sell tactics like having to sign that night (10pm!), secret codes you need to give your account manager etc – to be avoided at all costs. I have no idea how SSE are willing to risk their reputation by continuing to work with them.
The Renewable Energies forum on boards.ie is a good place to check what others are paying.
There’s a great group on Facebook. Irish solar pv and battery systems owners group. Well worth going through the threads.
I’d run a mile from Active8. Get 3 quotes from reputable sellers. From the quotes I got there was a huge difference (€3k) between the least and most expensive, and the most expensive were for a smaller array. I can recommend my installer by Pm if you like.
I had them out for a quote. The guy cut to the chase and gave me the max discount straight away of 15% <rolleyes>.
Then I was gonna be the first in my area so I’d get the special discount with that and the priority code <rolleyes>.
Then for every person I got to get a quote I’d get 250 back, and if someone went ahead with the sale I’d get thousands more.
Absolute pyramid scheme shite.
Only heard bad things about that company.
Fuck me, I’m waiting on a quote off them. Pv panels, heat pump and ev charger. Guy said they are proper competitive with the prices and will pump the house if needed for free
