Purely personal experience, but ever since they were bought out by IAG I’ve had nothing but bad luck with them. I have to fly multiple times a year and I’d say 80% of the flights I’ve booked have had time issues. Haven’t had that with Ryanair/Eurowings etc.
Had to fly to New York a few months ago. Turn up to the airport and they casually mention the plane is 4 hours delayed.
Had a flight to Rome with Aer Lingus this afternoon with 2 kids for a 3 week holiday. Heard the news after an hour of queueing outside.
RTE came out with the news a solid 30mins before anyone at the airport said anything.
Mad rush for everyone to Ryanair ticket desk to try secure alternatives. Fair Play to Ryanair marketing people offering “rescue” discount to stranded AL passengers, lol.
Ryanair tickets to UK sold out within 10mins of official announcements starting in T1.
Queueing to see if we can get a later flight to Rome with them…… Wish me luck.
Oh, Dublin airport. Can’t you go 5 minutes without embarrassing yourself?

Mr PanNationalistFront has been at the airport since 9am for a 12.30pm flight to San Francisco. Hardly any information being provided. Has been told anyone on his flight is to stand outside the airport now. However the flight is not cancelled. Seems like a complete farce.
They’ve started to cancel the US bound flights too, my mums flight to New York was cancelled, passengers told to leave airport and make other arrangements, not sure how aer lingus can just say gtfo and deal with it yourself.

Would not be surprised if the ‘IT issues’ were caused by a power interrupt rebooting systems, they’ve been getting more common recently. We had one the other morning, power outage for about 2 seconds.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but are flights from other airlines affected or is it just Aer Lingus? Also would people flying with other airlines be caught up in that queue?
Devastated my first holiday since covid and already missing out a day and half as the next orlando flight is 2:50 on Sunday. Also the cheek of daa airport trying to kick us before we could book accommodation. Alot of uncertainty aswell as we have no idea when are flight is tomorrow and just told to stay close. Keeping reciepts everywhere, gonna get them to pay a fuck ton for making people to wait since 8am.
Also unable to find bookings for anywhere just gonna stay at the airport and provide me accommodation.
Edit: poor dude has been here since 8 am and I think he pre dropped his bag and still can’t get it back
Why do I suddenly feel like the entire country decided to go on holidays together and I’m the only one being left at home?
There’s only one solution to this and it’s to build another 4 terminals imo.

Have a flight to Amsterdam at 6.15am tomorrow morning hope to fuck it gets sorted

WTF? Can anyone give a rundown of the “why” of this type of shitshow? I’ve traveled to dozens of countries, and never seen anything that bad. Is this all day?

Sat on the tarmac for 3 hours in Heathrow cause they couldn’t get the paperwork for the plane to take off. They said one person was doing it all manually! After we landed in Dunblin we were stuck on the tarmac for another hour because plane another plane on the runway was currently having the same problem we were having and can’t take off. When we eventually got to a to pull up it took about half an hour to get the steps to take us off the plane.
Fuck I was gonna visit Ireland a week ago but got distracted with other things. Did I just dodge a bullet? What’s going on?

If they don’t have insurance for this it’s not inconceivable that the compensation bill for this could bankrupt Aer Lingus.

I was there! Vacationing here from the US. We were on our way to France but now we’ll spend our remaining time in Ireland. Not a complete loss – we’ve loved it so far! Omw back to Killarney now for a place to sleep.
Picked up a housemate this morning from T1. Ryanair flight, so was “only” 2.5 hours late…
Flying from Arrecife -> Bristol – > Dublin today, currently in Bristol breathing a sigh of relief!
We were joking about being jealous of the Aer Lingus passengers with their direct flight taking off an hour before our trek began and which I *nearly* booked instead… then we noticed their baggage queue was suspiciously long.
I’m guessing even the London airports are getting hit by this, and this just happens to be the first time I’ve connected through the UK without it being London.
And to think, we were disappointed to be delayed by 45 minutes leaving Arrecife! Dodged some number of bullets on this one! 😂
This airport continues to be a national embarrassment.
