According to the Human Development Index, we’re the 8th most developed country lads!

  1. Iceland always wins by default. It’s kind of sillyness. It’s a country but it’s actually a village?

HDI is a strange metric. Anyway well done Ireland, please increase my rent. Some problems with power would be good too.

  2. Why on earth would you make a list with odd numbers on one side and even on the other rather than just proper descending order on the left followed by the right.

    Painful.

  3. Ranking highly on these lists is great, but it doesn’t mean that you are some kind of utopia nor does it mean that you should stop striving to fix several issues that we most definitely have – the massive one being an excessively expensive and short supply housing.

One of the ways you stay at the top of these lists is by recognising that problems need to be addressed and actually fixing them. So our national pastime of giving out about absolutely everything serves an important purpose.

  4. Can someone explain how we keep appearing so high up in these lists? What are they measuring to put us ahead of Germany, Luxemburg, Finland, Japan? Please! We’re the most dysfunctional in northern Europe.

  5. More accurate than we were, but still too high. Luxembourg, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and Finland, should still be ahead.

  6. What the fuck is “human development”? Are we 0.002% taller? Or are we talking slightly stronger mind-enhancing drugs than everyone else?

Can we have a heading on the top and some way of gauging the figures and how they were calculated?

  7. Lads Ireland is a great place to live*

*If you make close to a 6 figure salary on got on the property market more than 10 years ago

  8. There’s no point posting stuff like this to this sub. Ireland is near the top in nearly every metric.

But people here just can’t help themselves from bitching and moaning.
