[Found this an interesting and sad topic](https://youtu.be/WaeqXWzaizY), it’s show how awful Tori Animation are to some their biggest supporters, the little protection youtuber content creators have and Japan’s werid hatard against their content being online. This unfortunate man and his team unfairly losing their main source of income just before Christmas.

  1. I watched 1 minute of the attached video because I couldn’t go any longer.

As I understand it, his videos were removed because they contained content from Tori?

That only seems fair right? Don’t make buck off other people’s work

  2. Feel bad for the guy, from a quick look at his other content seems like it’s a long-form analysis and critique of anime. You see this done with movies and films a lot too and generally no problem to use 15-30 seconds clips of movies / tv shows. This doesn’t seem like just ‘react’ content. Where you’re watching the full episode and chipping in now and again.

I think for anyone who doesn’t want to watch the video, a few of the main points were.

**Youtube Appeal System** – Basically you can argue, this is fair use. You dispute the claim, the person who registered the complaint has 30 days to answer you and they make a decision on it themselves. If they decide, nope we’re right. You can appeal again and wait 30 more days for them to decide again. After that you can attempt to take them to court. You can’t launch multiple appeals at once. So basically to appeal all these videos would take him about 30 years as he said in the video.

**Toei Animation** Wanted to work with him in the past to promote their work. So there was no sense of what he was doing was frowned upon at that time. They even put copyright claims on videos that featured zero footage and just used the name of the anime in the title.

It’s shit for him but the video has gained a lot of traction from big YouTubers. So hopefully the company will release the claims. Just wanted to clear it up a bit as the first few comments made it seem like he was just uploading their stuff directly to youtube or something. If the work is transformative it counts as fair use and it would fall under criticism and comment parts of fair use.

  3. 1. There is a LOT of people in this country who actually can claim a ‘lifes work’ and you aren’t one of them. Stop fucking saying that, it’s insulting.

    2. Copyright violation claims have been a real problem for a while now. It absolutely sucks for creators to be at the whims of a copyright holders legal dept. In some cases the claims are absolutely legitimate, in others there is no basis whatsoever. It’s impossible to tell where this guy falls without examples. The youtube method of resolution is obviously flawed. However, this is due to the fact they are the leading edge of a new world of content and old media has had a long time to be able to sort all this out as evidenced by the fact Colbert can use the stuff that was mentioned.

    3. I Had no fucking idea who Tori animations were but I’m now aware of the reach of Dragonball and the fact there’s a new movie coming out. This is coupled with the irony of this guy complaining that his ‘lifes work’ is being snuffed out by the very people who have actually provided him with his ‘lifes work’ which he doesn’t really acknowledge.
