No point being the richest man in the graveyard. If only the queen did the same with all her tax payers money
So that’s how CIT afforded their ice sculpture.
Chuck Feeney > Chuck McGill
Good on him, I applaud him, the enjoyment of money is in the making of it as well as the giving away for the betterment of mankind.
Worth mentioning he’s American, next time before people shit on Americans here they can think of this man first.
Also the Chuck Feeney:
Player during the Belfast Agreement discussions – his interventions helped Gerry Adams meet Clinton and he hosed the place down with money to sweeten the deal.
Atlantic Philanthropies (his foundation) helped civil society organisations to lawyer up which is how we got equal rights for people no matter what their sexual orientation(s) – after excellent legal campaigns moved the needle because political campaigns didn’t.
This man has done infinitely more for modern Ireland than Mickey Martin who was minister for education when he tried to turn down Feeny’s offer to fund UL to the hilt.
He likes cheese sandwiches, he gave a few quid to his kids and was flying coach until his staff made him take business class in case he got tired on his Atlantic shuttle.
I read an excellent book about Chuck Feeney last year that detailed all of this. It’s called The Billionaire Who Wasn’t, very good for anyone who’d like to know more.

Why not use it for development?/
And yet Irish redditors absolutely hate Irish Americans for some reason.
That’s a good thing to do and I’m glad he did it, but the only way to get that rich is to be very good at exploiting people.
