The solution is obvious, it’s the will to implement the solution that’s the issue
>There is no such shortage; but construction workers are building for the needs of capital, not society. Most of them are building hotels, data centres, and office blocks, which should not be the priority in the middle of a housing crisis.
I don’t get it. Do we conscript construction workers and trades people from lucrative projects?

>There is certainly a case for nationalising all industry and starting to build an economy for the common good.
What a load of unadulterated drivel. This reminds of Ruth Coppinger saying we should nationalise Dell.
Jaysus. They want to buy houses from landlords at “knock down prices” to house people. Adolf would be proud of these Socialists!
Free houses for all. I’m gonna stop paying my mortgage now.
There’re on the right track, as buried in the Marxist language is something like the [Vienna Model](https://www.thisiswherewelive.ie/viennamodel), however with the VM there is still a healthy, functioning and profitable private rental market – which covers 40% of rentals. A whopping 60% is backed by government under the Vienna Model, and is a very high standard with relatively cheap rent prices. A really great solution for Ireland and one which will more likely get support in Ireland than the Socialist Voice solution of ‘nationalise everything’.
Like it or not, Marxist-speak scares people off. It’s not necessary to speak like that to implement the Vienna Model, and the VM is a tried and tested solution that fixes the Irish housing disaster.
