Hi, I am from US and will be renting a car from Sixt for a couple weeks. I don’t have the car yet, will be picking it up when I arrive in Frankfurt.
I am trying to navigate the insurance situation for rental cars in Europe. The rental reservation indicates that third party insurance is included in the price and “covers up to 1M Euros of damage”, but the details behind this nor the name of the third party insurance provider are included in the rental reservation. The Sixt website doesn’t go into any other detail that I can find.
I rented the car with an AMEX card, and I have purchased [additional insurance through AMEX](https://feeservices.americanexpress.com/premium/car-rental-insurance-coverage/home.do) that covers damage to the car and theft but that notably doesn’t include liability insurance or personal injury coverage.
My question is what exactly this third party coverage includes and what other types of insurance I should be getting to avoid getting screwed. I’ve seen some horrible stories in here by searching for Sixt. My German is not the greatest so hoping to avoid trying to navigate all of this at the rental counter.
