I think the new EU pay transparency directive will make this a requirement.
If that doesn’t put a cap on how wide the range can be, it’s pretty useless. “We’ll pay between €1 and €1mil for this position” 🙂
There is an EU directive about it coming soon.
I recently went for a job interview for a job closer to home and when I asked what the salary was the interviewer said with a dead pan face “Oh its minimum wage”. I said Really? Even with 25+ years experience? He said “Yep that’s it. €10 an hour minimum wage.”
I was waiting for him to laugh but he was dead serious and it was only then that I started laughing and told him good luck finding anyone to work for that 🤣
I hire for an American company with offices in Nevada and California. Good luck getting an application if you dont put a range on it already.
I’ve noticed salary ranges happening a lot more on linkedin recently which is great and saves an awful lot of time if you are looking. Granted it’s probably the lower end in most cases but it does give a ballpark.
