Car hits notorious road bollards despite widening

  1. The quality of people’s driving is what’s the issue here, its the same people that struggle to drive down tight country roads/ reverse down them

  2. When drivers say that we don’t need segregated bike lanes, we can show them this video. Imagine you’re on a bike getting hit like that

  3. [This was the old layout](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh0PkwUR_NFdrx3_gaYhPM4UWKYAbgnjAyZdc41_qhqEQWNpEPwih0IapjHi51R9ZkEsDlqXzAIMjFOSb1uZAQA0BLViPFp2s-sE27T3ahQ2PPkpnScbFn-6H1gzXvcypd2SwkNk7gbg6Xt2B6MrLQFc–xCq3lVQ6X-Jr82y0_wvPRDcd3SB1n5YJc) can’t really blame locals for being furious at that at all. It’s all very well saying it’s sign posted what the width restriction is but where else in the UK does a normal car driver have to think about their car width in terms of the measurement? I have no idea what width mines is until I googled it there.

  4. The old layout is nasty as the bollards are right up against the kerb edge, so if you even mess up slightly your getting a nice scratch. Always makes me nervous going through them when they are that narrow.

Although these drivers are going way too fast and did more damage then they would if they went slower.

  5. This one in Watford is round corner from me & is expectionally tight , they been hit do many times they are atent even straight adding to the problem, they’ve just positioned them
Took them about 10 years though

  6. Seems like a pretty good driving test, and people fail left right and centre:

    * They can’t read signs.
    * They can’t pick an appropriate speed.
    * They have no feeling whatsoever for the position of their vehicle.

The sign clearly says 2.10m in width, so if your car is 2.07m wide (a modern standard hatch), you have 3cm clearance. If you take that at 30mph, you like high stakes.

Now all they need is a big hole that opens up after a crash, crushing the vehicle, so that the traffic can move on. 🙂

  7. That’s a weirdly passive way of wording it. Surely “motorist drives car into notorious bollard despite widening” would make more sense. Cars don’t drive themselves (yet, except limited testing).

  8. That home owners car insurance must be through the fucking roof.

    Insurance – You live where?

    Owner – Postcode…

Insurance – Yeah! We’re not insuring your car since there seems to be 100 accidents at your address every week. Way to high of a risk.

    Owner – ….

  9. I don’t even understand what the width restriction is there for. I just looked the road up on Google Maps and it leads to literally nothing other than a standard road up ahead?

No bridge or any obstructions at all.

  10. Maybe if these people slowed down and proceeded with some caution it would have worked out less crunchy and bouncy for them.

I’d love to see the speed they park at!

  11. looked up the new layout on youtube.

hitting this thing now, in a normal size car, should automatically result in having to redo driving lessons and tests. along with tests for eyesight and basic co-ordination.

  12. If you look at the original bollards on google maps you can see they ain’t even that narrow haha.

Like I keep saying. Cunts in this country just can’t drive.
