Police prepare for violent crime and public disorder this winter

  1. I wonder if the policemen see their own children getting sick and coughing their lungs out, as they couldn’t possibly hope to pay for the electricity on their wage, will reconsider that perhaps sometimes protests and riots can change the Country for the better.

  2. You mean the severely understaffed and underfunded police?

…yea, I’m sure that will go fine. Totally fine.

  3. Maybe they should just sit this one out instead of betraying the very public who fund them.

  4. Already saw a gang of them down my street pull an 81 yr old out of his house and wrestle him up. Apparently they got the wrong address.

  5. Amazing how quickly that load of nonsense switches from people stealing in order to eat to a **much longer** examination of the tragedy that penny-pinching councils are refusing to cheer up plucky Britain with their usual display of Christmas lights, a proud tradition that dates back to medieval times

  6. Quite happy to be arrested for standing up for MY rights and those around me. The police are as corrupt as the conservative government. This is going to play out well isn’t it. One question though. Where are they going to put us all when we are arrested? And exactly how are the courts going to proceed with millions demonstrating?

  7. It’s going to be fun to have a “national debate” on why Britians public is so uncivlised and how parenting has failed, just to ensure we blur the lines between systemically fucking systems that protected people and a culture war, I can’t wait for Jeremy Vine to invite calls on the topic

  8. Like they’ll give a crap. Sure if you’re in a nice area they might come attend your property but for most people faced with petty crime as people become desperate to pay bills, they probably won’t even bother attending and just give crime numbers to claim on insurance.

  9. A reminder that the police number about 300,000 across the entire UK and 200,000 army personnel, in a population of 60 million adults, and we’re apparently only ever three meals away from anarchy. The government is forgetting that society exists because the people will it, not the politicians.

  10. So, as you know a lot of people will be cold and hungry this winter so I want to see jack boots, people, and use the spiky truncheons!

These people are poor and the destitute and they will be upsetting our lord’s and masters who will just be trying to enjoy their taxpayer funded parties!

These people have nothing to lose so don’t feel bad about smashing their skulls cause nothing of worth will be lost. As you know only property matters and as long as there is no property at risk, go to town lads (and ladettes, mustn’t be sexist now must we – my my PC Jenny you really do fill that uniform out well – shall we discuss your performance later?! Rawr!) … Right, back to business, jack boots, truncheons, protect property, crack skulls… Am I missing anything… Oh, yes, remember your arrest quotas people! We’re under review!

  11. The police are as affected why cost of living as the rest of us, I hope they join the right side.

  12. Viva la revolution. Its coming, I can’t see any other way to sort this out. The government certainly won’t. We have the numbers, people power will win

  13. I don’t want there to be riots and people’s businesses destroyed. However since Truss is getting in and she wants to stop the right to protest and stop Unions supporting the working class, and to protect the rich and make them richer I can’t really see how this won’t happen.

    Stop protests
    Stop Union strikes

That’s her fix for the rising cost of living. Also she’s an incompetent Thatcher Lite clown.

Goldman Sachs: Inflation could top 22%. Anyway we have the WEF and they want to fairly redistribute wealth. I haven’t seen their definition of fair but sounds like we’re getting it whether we like it or not.

  14. I know I shouldn’t be surprised by the daily heil but I love how this is blamed on “Putin’s energy war” and not the tories who are more the blame…

  15. UK energy companies are forecast to make 170 billion pounds in excess profits over the next two years.

The government is telling us that it’s war in Ukraine that’s causing the prices to rise to unprecedented levels. Although it might be a small contributing factor, it is evidently a lie. They are allowing this to happen. Ukraine is a convenient excuse to disguise corruption and whatever the fuck agenda is going on to take away peoples money.

Why isn’t the media investigating this properly?

Why aren’t politicians standing up in parliament and saying it like it is? Come on Keir Starmer, you’d be incredibly popular with the public if you called out the government on this, but for some reason you can only pussyfoot around the matter rather than address what’s really going on?

It’s almost as if big business and politicians are all in this together. People will have no choice but to protest.

  16. Everyone keeps saying how placid the British people are. How they don’t protest or stand up for their rights.

WhY cAnT wE bE lIkE ThE FrEnCh?!! It’s because we don’t show our hand until the bluff has run its course.

I think we will all be shocked by how hard our bite can be when barking has failed for so long.

It’s going to be chaos in London. I’m not happy about it but needs must.

  17. I’m all for riots which target those who have fucked us over. But in reality those people will be protected and well away from trouble. And once all that anger comes out it’s going to go somewhere and that somewhere will likely be homes, businesses, etc. Anger needs to be organised.

Anyway, what will you be doing during the purge?

  18. Should be doing what we can to get the police on our side cuz surely on their wages they can’t afford to keep the heating on either.

  19. I was in Wilko’s earlier when a fight broke out between a worker and a guy who was stealing. Punches were thrown and they wrestled the thief out of his shirt, eventually got his bag and dumped maybe 3 big bottles of washing detergent and 6 bottles of head and shoulders shampoo out before it was over. I think they let the guy go – I saw the worker throw his top to him as the thief stood in the exit.

The whole store stopped to watch and I heard a lady say, “this is what’s gonna happen now with this crisis” while we were being ushered away.

I think this is what we’ll get. I’m certainly noticing that my high street is more tense; more violence, more homeless people, I saw a bunch of kids (edit: it was maybe three kids, I don’t want to sound hyperbolic) grab a bunch of tops on hangers and run out of JD Sports last week too. I’ve always noticed theft in our stores – it’s a busy high street in east London – but I think we’ll see crime go through the roof. I’m not sure we’ll see a lot of large-scale disorder though; the gov has spent two years demonising protesters.

  20. Where I live in east London I’ve already noticed an uptick in crime and violent behaviour. It’s never been a particularly safe area but I don’t think I’ve ever felt unsafe until the past month or so.

  21. I came to this country about 15 years ago. Thinking about the country I arrived in and comparing it to the country today is jaw-dropping. And Brits have the audacity to describe NZ as like going back in a time machine. Pretty sure the UK is heading back to being the sick man of Europe once again. I’m grateful for another option right now.

  22. The police won’t be anywhere near prepared for what’s on the way.

    The government even less so.

  23. Some kids on BMX bikes gave the plod the real run around in London in 2011.

Now imagine what could be achieved if people got organised and did similar in every town and city in the UK?

  24. Crime is already on the rise where I am, recently my neighbour got burgled which is extremely rare for the area I’m in and the first time it’s happened in our street for at least 10 years.

EDIT: JFC that article is terrible though, typical Daily Mail bollox.

  25. Friend yesterday who works at a spoons told me the pub was over run by about 50 gypsies who where causing trouble and kids where even trying to get behind the bar to fetch their own drinks as well as lots of other issues. The manager hit the panic button and was told off by the police and the next day the gypsies returned and caused more trouble so they called 999 instead of the panic button and again got told off by the police for contacting them.

  26. I’d like to correct the article.

The issues we are facing in this country have EVERYTHING to do with decades of short sighted and selfish policy by our government, and only a little to do with Mad Vlad.
