The ancient were very font of Aithiopes. They believed they were the first people to discover god and thus the gods loved them. In Homer, I don’t remember where, it says that Zeus could not attent the council of the gods because he went to the Aithiopes that give the best offerings.
In Diodoros (and maybe even herodotos) you can find some stories about the Aithiopes also. It ‘s obvious they held them in very high esteem. He even has a description of a custom of theirs, about how their priest would kill their king. Really interesting stuff. He says it was believed that they were the first people to populate Egypt and that as centuries went by those first Aithiopean kings passed into legend hence modern Egyptians worshiped them as gods.
If I remember correctly though, the aithiopes should be located more in modern Sudan than where ethiopia is today.
But yeah. Not surprising. They were very much loved and admired here. They were considered the starting point of civilisation.
