Remember truss has been very explicit in her disdain for literally everyone but the rich; has consistently said the rich deserve everything while everyone else deserves nothing all while consistently saying it’s fine to let everyone freeze to death.

It also makes me laugh that house price inflation over the last decades has been every bit as destructive as the recent energy price inflation – I’d argue far more destructive to society – yet the government will not do anything to address.

No mention of freezing business rates. Businesses are looking at almost £1/kWh now, a lot of businesses simply cannot absorb that and will have to stop operating.

I’ve read about 10 threads on gas price issues, which is an issue based on an imbalance between supply and demand. There is almost no mention in any thread about how we we either increase supply, or drive down demand.
Putting caps on energy prices, or giving money to those who can’t pay, are a bandaid but not a long term solution.
How do you suggest we do either of these?

Question is how to pay for that.
The gas/electric companies can’t absorb the loss. They would all have to declare bankruptcy. Admittedly a “cheap” way to re-nationalize them. Oh wait, Tory government not Labor…
A windfall tax on the production companies is the only funding that ***might*** cover that cost.
I hope that, if they do freeze prices, those of us who bought fixes a few months back (having already paid over the odds for several months) will benefit from their fixed price being reduced as it would suck to have been paying over the cap for several months to then be forced to continue to pay more when everyone else gets a cheaper deal!
Unfortunately I feel as though the only thing freezing are going to be low income households and pensioners.
This is the same party who suggested feeding the nations grannies to Covid-19 in a bid to keep your local Asda open.
They do not know kindness.

My opinion of the government is so low I assumed the “freeze plan” was just telling people to freeze, not freezing prices.
Price caps worked well last time, i think we should try it again and again and again until the market findentals of supply and demand balance themselves out
