CAO 2022: Universities to use lottery to select students for many high-points courses

  1. I don’t know why they brought in this new H1, H2 etc system as the amount of points combinations reduced from 12 to 8. I’m no mathematical expert but surely the probability of people getting the same points has increased significantly.

An easy solution to this would be give the % you get in the exam as points. If you get 68%, you get 68 points. That would give an absolutely huge range of combinations and would surely reduce the amount of people getting the exact same points?

I’m open to correction and could be wrong but I think this is a good idea

  2. But we know that. It has always been the case that where there are limited places and equally over qualified candidates, there will be a lottery system. I am not going to get into the specifics of just how long it is since I did the leaving (but my goodness, cars, eh? who could have foreseen them!) but that known about since at least then.

  3. Wait a few years and apply as a mature student. You’ll get in for everything. I am very mediocre and was getting accepted to law, BESS and other 500+ point courses. LOL.
