There is something magical about swimming also. I love being in water that can’t be explained. Maybe it has something to do with returning to the womb. It is deeply nurturing.
Snap ik wel! Goede reden dat wij zo graag het water opzoeken. Ik woon aan een gracht en het is wel echt genieten om dat voor je deur te hebben.
Heel gezond. De grachten in Amsterdam.
I always love looking at the tides, especially from a “paviljoen” near my small town. Get some drinks/lunch/diner with friends and watch the tide, very soothing.
It’s almost as if having a lot of water around you satisfies some deep need to feel secure about…
[checks notes]
…having enough water
Just kidding (kind of) but i always find it funny that we need science to tell us that having acces to these kind of basic, natural, life-affirming things makes us feel good. Like we all apparently needed studies to prove that having ample greenery around is good for you actually, and maybe it’s not great to just have massive cities with nothing but concrete and bricks for kilometers.
“Zo nu en dan wat natuur ervaren, in plaats van de muren van je appartement, kantoor en transport is goed voor je.”
Goh.
I always find the assumed causation in these types of studies questionable. Seems much more logical to me that the wealth in parts of the world with more canals is what makes the people more happy, not the canals themselves
