Remembering Jadotville 61 years ago today.
1) On this day in 1961 the week-long Siege at Jadotville began. The 155 soldiers of A Company (Group), 35 Infantry Battalion, under the command of Comdt Pat Quinlan, supported by Coy Sgt Jack Prendergast held out against outrageous odds. 🇮🇪 🇺🇳 pic.twitter.com/ymmfff6dfc

a great story. the film didn’t do it justice
It’s unpopular to respect our Defence Forces as fighting men but who cares. Some of us will remember them today.

My grandad was in A company. He didn’t like to talk about it so I never realised the scale of the ordeal until after the movie came out. Was great to see him to finally get some recognition before he passed away.
