Good evening nice people!

I will soon be going for a semester to study in Saxony, and I’m a bit confused about my health insurance – I have public insurance in Greece and I have the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) and know that it only covers me for emergencies.

However, because I would like to have a full health insurance (which would allow me.g. to be able to go to an orthopedist if my leg hurts or just to a GP) and not one covering only emergencies, I have received the S1 form ([https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/work/social-security-forms/index\_en.htm](https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/work/social-security-forms/index_en.htm)), which -I was told at my Greek public health insurance company- when submitted to a public health insurance company in Germany, they are obliged to give one an equivalent -full- health insurance free of charge.

I would like to ask if anyone has successfully acquired such a health insurance in Germany and how they managed to do it; in the past I had once more attained this form, and had gone to 2 different public health insurance companies in Germany (Techniker and AOK) and both were very confused with my request and in the end they did not help me at all, so I was left with only my EHIC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙂
