Azerbaijan established control over “some territories” of Armenia. Armenian PM Pashinyan appeals to CSTO under article 4

1. “When we say that Azerbaijan carried out aggression against Armenia, we mean that it also established control over a certain area. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this in the National Assembly today, September 14.

   “This is the reason why we appealed to the CSTO, because if they had not occupied the territory…” Pashinyan said.

   Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia applied to the CSTO on the basis of Article 4 of the Collective Security Treaty. “Thereby, it is said that aggression against one of the member countries is considered aggression against other countries. We have asked the CSTO for help and support, including military, to restore the territorial integrity of Armenia and ensure the withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from the territory of Armenia.”

   According to Pashinyan, under this, Armenia also means the invasion of the Sotk-Khoznavar sector by the Azerbaijani armed forces on May 12 last year. “The aggressor must leave the territory of the Republic of Armenia.””

2. Point me at one European government that has any idea what to do about this, besides clutching their pearls more tightly, please.

4. It looks like this will be a rare case of total agreement between Russia and the West in that Armenia should sort it on its own and not whine for help when the big boys are busy elsewhere.
