What’s mad is that if you were to say to someone, “give this woman a fiver to help her out”, most people would say yes.
If you say “add a fiver onto taxes to help people like this woman out” it would be a hard no.

I posted before. I used to run a company that installed insulation for free It was funded by the energy companies. They used the measures to meet carbon targets. They need to do the same again but fund solar installs families like these would helped instantly and what they didn’t use goes to the grid for us to buy cheaper?

My sympathy left this country a long time ago. I just assume most people vote Tory now or are too lazy to vote someone else. Country deserves the Tories. hope they keep getting into power tbh.
So, I’m confused and I’m willing to put this down to regional variations.
But when my kid was on 24/7 oxygen, I got a rebate based on the reading from the meter. Why isn’t she offered the same? I don’t know if suction for the tube takes a lot of power.
But the feeding pump should use a trivial amount of electricity (and that doesn’t need to be plugged in 24/7). That should work for a few days on a single charge.
Keeping the house warm, that bit is fair enough.

I might be wrong, but isn’t there some law where the electric company can’t cut off your power if its running life saving equipment? Also lot’s on the news about talking to the companies and getting them to help with a payment plan. No company is going to pull the plug and kill a little kiddy, even if it’s only because of the bad publicity.
I look after three disabled people, heating is a must, it’s going to be a fucking fantastic winter if everyone survives.
This may be one story but there will be plenty of other disabled people worried about their own expenses, with no rise in benefits to help them meet their own care costs. Disabled people struggle as it is, often ignored because they feel they have no voice in society, we also know austerity under Cameron contributed to a fair few deaths. This next year is going to be very cruel to the vulnerable and the government are not going to step in and help any time soon. It’s a damning indictment of our society when people still vote for a party that allows for this to happen.
Her electricity will never be cut off because she has someone who literally depends on it for life-saving equipment.
This is a literal law. They cannot cut off her electricity if they are made aware that their is a dependant under the roof. So fuck the electricity bill, buy the food. How many more of these ‘news stories’ are we gonna see? I swear these people go straight to the fucking news instead of actually talking to their energy supplier first.
If anything, she’s better off than most people, because if she can’t afford to pay her electricity, it still won’t get cut off.
