  1. That’s just limescale. Normal in hard water areas, particularly if there are works on in the area

“If your tap water looks white or cloudy, it could be caused by air bubbles or limescale. Do this simple test to see what’s causing it.

Fill a glass of water from the cold tap in the kitchen of your home

Leave it to stand for a few minutes

Then check it to see if the water is clearing downwards or upwards

    Clearing upwards? It’s air bubbles.

If the water clears from the bottom of the glass upwards then air bubbles are causing the cloudiness. The bubbles clear as they rise upwards from the bottom of the glass.

    Clearing downwards? It’s limescale.

If the water clears from the top of the glass downwards, the cloudiness or white colour may be due to limescale from hard water.

    Is it safe to drink?

Hard water and air bubbles don’t affect the quality of your drinking water. If the colour of your water clears after a few minutes, the water is safe to drink. If it’s limescale, check to see how to prevent the build-up of limescale caused by hard water. If the white or cloudy appearance doesn’t clear, contact us on 1800 278 278 and we’ll investigate it.

  2. If you leave this to sit for a while it will turn clear.

I’d say if this is the case its tiny air bubbles. Happens to ours after the water has been turned off for a long period of time.

  4. Think you tapped into a reserve of smirnoff ice, what I recommend you do is hide bottles of it around the house and force who ever finds it to chug it down on one knee

  5. Oxygenated water. It is perfectly fine to drink. There is a leak in the pipe some place. Contact Irish Water.

  6. You have two fine issues

Either some air bubbles for some u known reason.

Or some lovely lime water that i have no idea where it comes from…

Your not the only the only one with this don’t worry

  7. If it is limescale, you also now have an answer to why your kettles don’t last very long and why your scalp is itchier than normal.

  8. Does nobody know about aerators in faucets? They’re in most modern faucet designs, it’s pretty common. Just let the water settle, after that if you’re still concerned shake it and check for foreign particles

  9. It should be ok. I went camping and a spot did that too, I drank from it for a week and absolutely no issues. It was just a lot of air diffused into the water, ten mins and it was crystal clear

  10. My parents tap water is like this too. And theirs smells like chemicals and tastes pretty bad. It’s ok to boil and use in tea/coffee but I wouldn’t drink it from the tap.

  11. Mine was like this for awhile when I first moved into my dad’s where I currently live but it’s normal now. I think it’s because he didn’t run the water very much but I use it a lot so it just cleared up. It’s only air bubbles though nothing to worry about.
