‘Difficult decisions ahead’ as £600m pay deal offered to council staff – Nicola Sturgeon said workers deserved a fair pay deal but warned the cost would mean cuts elsewhere

1. They need to get Tory permission to pay the workers more. The Tories would much rather use that 600m and give it to their friends in dodgy contracts or a tax cut for the rich.

   Remember, Those “Council staff” the Refuse workers are generally paid the lowest within the Council, and are CONSIDERED CRITCAL KEY WORKERS during Covid, they wasn’t able to socially distance themselves away from each other, not within a lorry cab, they were put at risk and were given a shit pay deal.

   Scotland got to taste what a city without it’s Refuse and Cleansing staff looks like, I suggest they up the offer and I would suggest the Workers REJECT the deal.

   I bet what ever they cut, it wouldn’t even be noticed unlike how shitty a city can be made to look, I wonder how many people would of gotten ill from all that trash and Rats running about?

3. Raise council tax or cuts to council services. Its either or.

4. They’ve been promising to overhaul council tax since 2007 FFS.

5. The only sensible replacement to council tax would be another wealth based tax,

   I’m personally in favour of a land value tax as it would prevent developers sitting on land and not using it. This in turn should reduce the cost of housing
