Someone posted here earlier they wanted the kalevala in English, I found this at Kontti for 5€. So this is what that poster could look for 🙂

  1. It’s great that quite a few of Mauri Kunnas’ books have been translated so we can recommend them to non-natives too. In our family we have gifted some of our old copies to relatives so they can read them to their kids.

  2. I was given one of their books last year, for Christmas, by my Finnish partner’s family. I would wholeheartedly recommend them, lovely illustrations and clear translations.

  3. There’s also a Kalevala story in the Duck universe drawn by Barks / Rosa (can’t remember which), that is absolutely marvellous.

  4. We found Mauri Kunnas when we visited in 2019 and damn it’s terrible he’s not better published in the UK.

  5. Strongly recommend this version! You can read the translated version of the original Kalevala, but this shows the highlights. There is so much detail in all of the panels which keeps kids occupied. 🙂
