  1. Above article is from the 25th Apr 2022. Donnelly says dept plans to fund IVF treatment next year.
Is this still part of the plan? or has there been any update since?

  2. A better thing to do would be to regulate IVF here. There are clinics making a killing off vulnerable people going through the most difficult experience a parent can go through.
A close friend of mine and her husband who dealt with two Irish clinics and were unsuccessful and paid them an eye-watering 20k.
Then they went to another EU country and as its regulated there, the clinic did more tests and preparation with them – different meds, varying routine for egg retrieval, vitamins etc and they conceived first time and they were charged less than 8k.
They said the sell from the Irish clinics was cringey AF and very much felt like it was inpersonal and a business transaction before anything else, the second Irish clinic the doc admitted he did not even read her file before the first consultation, even though the consult cost them 250eur.
I totally agree with it being funded but only if these clinics are regulated so they can’t sell people a shit service for the most important thing they will ever pay for.
