We already did this. And I don’t remember a great deal of help from Ukraine to stop it.
I’d say it’s moot, the Ukrainians have completely outfoxed the Ruskies and have recaptured 6000 sq. km of territory in 5 days, undoing what it took Russia 3 months to achieve. Putin rolled the dice and it’s come up snake-eyes, hopefully it results in his resignation, removal or death.
I’d consider myself massively pro-Ukrainian but I think we should let Russia keep Crimea. There’ll never be peace with them if we don’t.
Russia needs an all-year-round warm water port, they won’t settle until they have one.
Edit: as far as I can tell, Crimea would also prefer to be part of Russia.
Limerick and Mullingar could only be improved by Russian occupation. Perhaps we’d get some decent accommodation and a Metro
Dublin!
