The day I discovered I actually enjoy the silence.
The actual democracy.
We’re not perfect, but holy fuck it’s crazy that not more countries have our style of democracy, instead opting to have insane two party systems…

Was undecided about my move here. Then came my first National Day. Seemed like the entire village was gathered on the area up the hill (mountain?) by the church. The view overlooking Lac Leman was beautiful. A bonfire had been set up, children were running around with sparklers. The local band playing and the food. So much sausage! Then came the the lighting of the bonfire and the shooting off of the fireworks. All along the lake, and across, bonfires and fireworks. It was an amazing sight. I was shooting photos almost the entire time. It wasn’t until the next day when I was going through them that I saw the one that made me realize I’d made the right choice moving here. A photo of the sunset I’d framed with children and the balloons they had been given. Red with the white cross on both sides, of course. One child had run in front of the camera just as I took the pic. The sun, illuminated the balloon perfectly…or had the balloon encased the sun? Either way, I fell in love with my new home.
I will second the ones in your picture, plus:
* Landscape (Alpine lakes, forests and mountains)
* The people and their diversity
* Things generally work very efficiently
* Pretty transparent and fair government
* Landscape
* A working economy
* Fresh cooking ingredients and cheese
* Landscape
* Location being very central to the rest of Europe and the world.
Oh, and did I mention the landscape!
Edited because I don’t want to be kicked out for forgetting cheese.
