It’s one law for King Charles the billionaire and another for his struggling subjects

  1. Privilege is by definition private law. He has privilege, we the peasantry do not. It is odd that so many love and defend this status quo….

mid-12c. “grant, commission” (recorded earlier in Old English, but as a Latin word), from Old French privilege “right, priority, privilege” (12c.) and directly from Latin privilegium “law applying to one person, bill of law in favor of or against an individual;” in the post-Augustine period “an ordinance in favor of an individual” (typically the exemption of one individual from the operation of a law), “privilege, prerogative,” from privus “individual” (see private (adj.)) + lex (genitive legis) “law” (see legal (adj.)).

  2. did you hear the MP’s have got their own queue to see the Queen lying in state? They can take 4 guests, I wonder how they will select worthy members of their constituency, or will they attend with friends and family more likely.

  3. Everything the monarch owns and passes down is held in trust, for all future monarchs and/or the nation.

Anyone can do the same, and put their property and wealth into a trust and if done correctly, it won’t be subject to inheritance tax.

  4. British society has always had a class problem.. it amazes me that most of us have forgotten the very strict pecking order our parents / grand parents lived under.. our society in terms of education, wealth and culture hasn’t actually moved on all that much despite what we’re told.

  5. Majority of people supposedly still support them. So why should those people get to complain when they are a part of the problem?

  6. I think people have been forgetting the core concept of a monarchy. I mean, shit. It’s not like this law affects much. Just the kingdom passing from one person to another. Would be pretty pointless to have a bunch of his money return to the state when it’s just going to go right back to the monarch.

  7. It’s the same law though.

Anyone can put their money into a trust and then the trust will have to pay 6% every year.

More stable revenue than just waiting forever for inheritance.

  8. I live in Vietnam. Friend of mine at work was asking what power the queen (or now king) has. I had to try to explain the whole idea about it being ceremonial “but they do have power but would never use it”.

We agreed it was fucking ridiculous.

    Fuck royalism.

  9. This is what aristocracy rule is like. We all either voted Tory or didn’t do anything to encourage the youth to vote, which meant that the old continued to hold power. I feel incredibly guilty for this, we should all feel the same. Next time make a promise to yourself to do more.

I give two fucks if this means labour win, all i want is a bunch of people in charge who understand that their job is to provide civil service and not rule like a bunch of high class ruling class knobs.
