“**Greece**

\+30 (0) 21 11986230Mon.–Fri., 08.00–23.00 hours”

I tried typing in 30 0 21 11986230 without spaces

Then I heard a message in Greek. Then afterwards it said in English the number I’m calling is not correct.

So I tried it again, this time putting in a 0 for the + sign in the phone number

030 0 21 11986230

And I got the same message in Greek. What do I do? How do I call Lufthansa? Trying to get an aisle seat for the plane ride back

  1. If you are in Greece you don’t need the country code or the 0 in parentheses.

Also, in Europe the equivalent for + is 00 (double zero).

Still, if you dial from a mobile phone +30211… (even while using a mobile phone with a Greek SIM while in Greece) this should complete the call. I can’t think of a situation where the (0) is needed.

  2. Since you are already in Greece, you only need to call `2111986230`.

    * `+30` is the code for Greece. You don’t need to use that when already in Greece.
    * `+` is `00` for Greece, `011` for USA/Canada/Mexico (North American Numbering Plan), and maybe different things for some other countries.
    * You can use `0030` or `+30` (for mobile phones, they do the translation automatically), it will work fine, but if you are already in Greece, it’s unnecessary.
    * `(0)` is wrong, it’s a remnant of the transition from the old system, from 20 years ago. The site were just being idiots.

EDIT: It seems that Lufthansa has the curious `(0)` in almost ALL countries. This is probably wrong everywhere, unless this means something else (internal phone system maybe?)
