So has anyone encountered this before? I’m in Belgium, and am logged in with my account, but I can’t watch unless I provide personal data.

  1. Vrtmax: when choosing an episode it won’t let me watch, instead I am transferred to a different page where I have to choose to provide my phone number for a code (hell no) OR a confirmation through “mijn burgerprofiel” (logging in with eID or Itsme).

Note that I am logged in with my account which is a few years old at this point.

Wasn’t an issue a week before. Is this something new? Smells like koeiestront to me.

  3. Hi I had this issue as well when I moved to Spain a few years ago. You need to confirm your nationality through eID or ItsMe or any of the other ways VRT proposes. Only Belgians have access to VRT content.

  4. This only happens if it detects you are connecting from a non-belgian ISP.

Classically this happens when you are on holiday, or VPN

Its not to steal your data or anything, but they are required to as part of the licensing for most of the content they have on there.
