Holy shit that might be the most irresponsible tax policy change I’ve witnessed in my lifetime, and I say that as someone who stands to seriously gain from the 40p bracket increase.
There is nothing there at all for those vulnerable to the cost of living rise. This can only result in further massive cuts to local funding and add more points to inflation as those of us who can afford to, out buy the rest of the nation. I was pessimistic for my struggling friends before, but now…
For 90%+ it will amount to a few pounds in your pocket per week, for the rest it will mean being able to trade up from a Porche to a Ferrari.
Yet the £2 a week piles up the votes.
Whilst I’d absolutely love it if the higher rate tax threshold was raised by £30k, I’ll believe it when I see it.
I bet liz truss promised her husband she wasn’t getting jiggie with anothet🙊
