UK poised to confirm funding for mini nuclear reactors for green energy

  1. We would be stupid not too, the faster we can be energy independent the better. Imagine getting to the point where we no longer have to import gas and oil.

  2. What’s the difference between a “mini nuclear reactor“ and a regular Nuclear reactor?

    Just the size?

  3. this would be great in combination with wind and solar. I think for some places nuclear is a bit late even though i think 10 years ago it was the perfect solution. But its still good to have around 20% nuclear baseline for stability

  4. I’m glad nuclear is finally getting the attention it should. Would have been better if it happened a decade ago, but it’s nice to see at least the gears moving.

  5. Gen4 low pressure reactors will be the future for nuclear.

And maybe thorium reactors. If they ever get going….

  6. This is stupid, the cost of the energy produced by those reactors is too high compared to the standard EPRs. It’s ok if you don’t have a choice and cannot build ERPs, but otherwise they are not worth it.

France is developing those reactors too, but only because it’s going to be a profitable market by 2030, not because they see a good opportunity to develop their nuclear production

EDIT: I’m not sure why I’m getting downvoted lol. If you don’t agree fine, but at least give me an argument, I gave a 40 lines arguments with sources but you don’t say anything, are you just mad or what ?
