Swiss government jet forced to land in Moscow due to technical problem; Cassis’ trip to China is cancelled. Second time this has happened in six months (last time was Parmelin going to Tokyo). Maybe it’s time to buy a new jet for the Federal Council?

  2. Swiss flies to both of those destinations. Surely it would be more economical to simply buy them business/first class tickets rather than buy a passenger jet?

  4. Well this Falcon is not that young anymore… I know german government aircraft had age and maintenance issues.

  6. They now need to observe that technical difficulty so they can take action when it seems necessary and the Cantons were consulted.

  8. Sorry we have no money for a new civilian airplane. This morning they announced that the F-35 are going to be more expensive. (Which surely comes as a total surprise to everybody.)

  10. They are again saving in the wrong place with an old and too short range jet. If you want the flexibility, get a Gulfstream, Falcon 8X or Global Express. Probably less than a F35… if that’s too much go the Austrian route and simply travel commercial.

  17. Let’s be honest am I the only one questioning us getting some American jets we will never need unless it’s to show them off in some parade but an actual proper Jet for our executive is which they use on a monthly basis at the very least seems to be outside of our budget.
    I am all for us having an well equipped army but this seems to show to our priorities and not aligned with our actual needs

  18. Private jets is just a waste of money, commercial flights should be mandatory.

    For most of them, nobody really misses them when they’re away. And with our political system it don’t matter if they’re away three or ten days.

    Cold even take The Long Way Round, would at least earn them some respect if they make it 😂

  21. In the big scheme of things, these aircraft are not that much money. No idea why this one is having so much trouble. Hope they can get it sorted, because the FC needs to have their own aircraft, not leased, not rented, unless they will be obliged to talk about the weather or sports during the entire flight.
