Tried to make bread, made pulla instead. Great success.
Well this is intriguing!
You need to knead it more, the more, the better.
Just the traditional heads up that often gets said in these threads.
Remember that in Finland bread is never something from the category that includes pulla. If you say bread to a Finnish person, you’re talking about something that can be eaten as a side dish or in sandwiches or burgers. Stuff like that.
We in Finland may well understand that this is not how the English language is used elsewhere. But nonetheless this will be a very common misunderstanding between you and Finnish people if you don’t pay attention to it. Thank you for your time. The heads up is now over. Peace, guys!
An attempt was made clearly. The pulla actually looks decent, the braiding is well…
this pulla is not made well. it has been possibly under-proofed, baked in too hot an oven or not kneaded enough – hence the splits in it. Also, pulla is normally a 4-braid but can be a 3 braid..these are braided incorrectly. There is no shine on the bread and this is normally accomplished with an egg-wash. I hope it tasted good and that you keep trying! Pulla is wonderful to make and eat.
Very sad and dry looking. Id throw it in the bin and try again
I bet those tasted very good! Please ignore comments about braids, it is still a good pulla! Taste matters and eventually you will get tve shine and braids as well! Good job, keep baking!
Kneading it for longer to generate the gluten bonds further to keep it from splitting up like that would have made for a better Pulla, but those are still valid looking pitko for sure.
Well now Im hungry
just a heads up OP that pulla is not bread, you dont put sugar in bread in finland.
