US says it will send troops to eastern Europe if Russia invades Ukraine

  1. Empty words. USA will send troops to Nato’s eastern flank AFTER Ukraine has been invaded.

What is the good of that? If they were serious they would send them to Ukraine BEFORE Russia invades.

  2. Naturally, the Eastern NATO allies are going to scream bloody murder and wil need to be placated and reassured.

Doesn’t really change the calculus regarding Ukraine though.

  3. Also, this is starting to look less like an attempt at deterrence and more like acceptance and preparations for the aftermath.

  4. Taliban in Afghanistan. Ethiopia in civil war. Sudan in internal conflict. Russia playing dangerous war games. Turkey heading for economic collapse.

One way or another the number of refugees heading gør the EU will likely increase.

  5. Western neighbors tend to invade Russia roughly once per century, based on historical experience. In the last 4 centuries, this duty was performed by the Poles, Swedes, French and Germans, usually in the first decades of the century. Which country gets the job this time?

  6. I wonder how WW3 will look like with my generation at the frontier..

Sitting in the trenches, you hear “can I get a hoyaaa?” and the enemy responds..

  7. Interesting to hear how this going down at home primarily with young Russians / Belurussians who have come of age under Putin’s rule..from what I can gather he is not all that popular with younger Russians .
These rotten shits in suits about to send more kids to the slaughter that would otherwise most likely be friends in a different environment.
They are literally shit scared of us all getting on aren’t they …all they have is divide and rule.
Why doesn’t that wanker Putin invest some capital in improving his citizens futures.. Russia could be the richest country in the world given its resource pool.

    I

  8. Putin is bluffing. To invade and hold Ukraine he needs at least 500’000 troops. For now he has 100’000. With these actions he wants to get a promise out of Biden that there will be no NATO membership for Ukraine. Till now US response is: “Fuck you, you little rat-faced gremlin”. It is very important not to give in to the demands of this psycho mass murderer.

  9. What?! I’m sorry but this wording sounds like “Ok, but if you take Ukraine we will send troops to Poland so you can’t go further!”

Why are people cheering this? This sounds like it’s a sign that Ukraine will be sacrificed.

  10. The EU and US should agree on massive military equipment support for Ukraine, planned for maximum lethality against Russian equipment, make it conditional on Russian attack and already train Ukrainian soldiers to use it. Long range precision fires, drones, smart artillery munitions, counter artillery radar, short range anti-air artillery etc.

If Russia attacks then we immediately hand it over to Ukraine.

That way Putin can’t use it as pretext for escalation (yes I know, they are not bound by facts and reality) but still impose a heavy military cost for aggression.

  11. I’m clearly in the minority here but I don’t think a military response is necessary. The Russian economy has been strained by the sanctions imposed after the invasion of Crimea. The Russian economy as a whole is kind of on life support.

A full invasion of Ukraine is unlikely because of this, but even if it did happen, that will be very expensive for Russia. Not only will Ukraine make sure it hurts, but also sanctions would be ramped up and slowly drain Russia. Arguably, the US and OPEC countries could increase oil production so that the value of oil, Russia’s only real asset, plummets. This is the only response I think is needed for Russia to lose this war

  12. So the US are really gonna push for Bidens war, to get re-elected… I guess all the fighting, death and destruction will be in Eastern Europe, until the nukes start to fly anyway.

  13. Americans in here trying to tell europeans how to act democratic meanwhile their own shithole of a country is as devided as never before.
