Hi there, Im starting to work on my Fasnacht Costume for 2022. Im going as a royal court person (see link)
The biggest struggle is so far to find a nice wig like in the image of the link. that looks good and does not cost a fortune. Are there any good shops in german switzerland? Physical or online.
All the wigs i found so far look really cheap.
Thanks in advance!

  1. My partner cosplays, for natural hair African shops are great but expensive (as those wigs are meant to be worn often), for other wigs it’s generally Amazon.

  2. I guess your best bet is to search through some local costum rental places. They often have websites/onlineshops aswell. Since your Renting is most of the time decent quality to a fair price. Good luck hunting.

  3. It’s really tough to get that exact-looking wig. Your best bet is to get a decently priced grey one (or white worst case) and add depth to it by dabbing grey/black/white eyeshadow or powder. Should help with the cheap/shiny look. Good that you’re starting from now!
    EDIT: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/002-P4T309-Unisex-Carnival-Silver-Baroque-Edelmann/dp/B01IHLW60U/ref=mp_s_a_1_18?crid=HB5K3193REOY&keywords=per%C3%BCcke+barock+mann&qid=1637879373&sprefix=wig+baroque+man%2Caps%2C119&sr=8-18

  4. You’re basically looking for a baroque costume (17th/early 18th century) so you should look for one under that term. That said, I think costume shops do horribly in making baroque and rococo wigs look good and not cheap. You can find good quality costumes for that period of Etsy but they won’t be from Switzerland and are extremely expensive. Maybe you could make a cheap wig look more authentic by powdering it yourself; people back then used starch as a basis for wig powder. But I never tried that so I can’t tell you how good of an idea that is. 😀
