Irish jobs that make 6 figures that don’t require a good leaving cert?

  1. Just to be clear, you want to earn at least €100k a year without a good leaving *and* without college? Or are you willing to do further study?

  2. You could self teach programming skills but honestly if you haven’t a good leaving you’d be incredibly lucky to break the top 1% of earners. It would also take a long time of lowball wages while you prove yourself capable.

  3. Skilled trades. Electricians, carpenters, plumbers, mechanics, etc can make something around that amount eventually if they’re good at it.

  4. There are no sure-fire routes to big salary jobs with low barriers to entry – otherwise we’d all be doing them. People don’t do the LC just because they overlooked the alternatives. Can it be done? Sure. But your probability of success is now *massively* less.

  5. I failed LC but did get a degree, I had to go into people leadership (in Tech) to earn this amount. If you are not the brightest, you just need to work extra hard.

  6. CyberSecurity? I left school without basic education and done great in it but I burnt out and left on Monday gone after taking a reduction for a year. I was taking in 105-130k a year for 5-8 years (can’t remember when I cleared the 100k) and then 68k for the last 2 years. Before it I was a barman/hotel worker. Joined as an intern in 2010 and quickly made my way up. The changing technology always means you have to learn though.

  7. Trades really you can get a decent wage but even those people usually will be getting around 50k-60k average after like 10+ years unless they are working like an absolute lunatic and have a good reputation. I’ll put it into context, I’m a manager in a robotics company and I’m not making 6 figures, I might eventually make that kind of money, maybe in the next year but not even a high skill, very specific job, with experience, you aren’t going to even touch that kind of wage.

  8. I’m touching about 100k. Basic is about 53k. The shift allowance and bonus bring it up to around 100k.

Took a leaving cert, engineering degree and two stepping stone jobs to get here at 29.

In life, you have to do things you dont want to do to get where you want to be.

A leaving cert is such a small part of your life, but it’s a good challenge which proves to yourself and employers that you can apply yourself.

  9. Tattoo artist. I know nothing of this personally, but anecdotally have heard there is very little regulation in the industry so it’s all cash in hand and if you’re good at it you can rake it in.
