Today 79 AD Mt. Vesuvius erupts, burying the Roman cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis and Stabiae and killing thousands. New research suggests the eruption occurred on or after this date not the previously used 24 August.

  1. Nope, not on this day, probably Oct 24.

    They only found a worker graffiti (written in charcoal) dated to Oct 17, doesn’t mean Vesuvius erupted that day 😉 .
