Varadkar’s proposed new 30% rate of income tax ‘will not be happening’

  1. Probably making myself look like an idiot here but does anyone know what the eight existing tax rates the article refers to are?

I thought there were just two (not counting any untaxed income)

  2. Varadkar is his typical fashion specifically left lower earners out of his tax cut strategy so his plan dying is good.

Any rearranging of tax bands need to help those on the bottom up. Not top down.

  3. My first impressions is the government wants to still fleece Irish workers and they want to do it for the long term hence the unchanged tax rate during this cost of living crisis.

They will borrow money to fund a once off round of “benifits” this budget and continue to fleece Irish workers in the long term.

  4. Anyone earning between 30-70k a year with kids in second or third level education is really getting squeezed at the moment

  5. I remember when he was a doc around blanch n was begging for votes he seemed to be a decent kind but now he’s just poison.

  6. Lost my vote in the next election. That idea had swayed me. But it’s evident he’s only full of empty promises and shite.

In fairness though, they all are!

  7. Varadkar and talking shit once again, what a surprise. A fucking clown of a man. It’s probably Sinn Fein’s fault again.

  8. “Sources confirmed that the entry point at which people pay the higher tax rate of 40% will be raised as a way of helping middle-income earners in the budget.” Raise it to 55k like you stated back in 2016!

  9. I knew it sure they said a few weeks back wasn’t going to happen.

They checked how much money they would lose and said naaaaaaa

  10. Lovely, middle earners getting shafted as always. Nearly better off getting a low paying job and being eligible for all of the government schemes that are not available to middle earners.

  11. Yeah no shite his favorite hobby is kite flying. They are supposed to be the party of low taxes and after 11 years all they’ve managed to do is fiddle a bit with the brackets. Oh and give us a housing crisis.

  12. I’m curious do people actually read the proposals put forth by different parties before they vote ?

Vast majority of comments on this thread are straight out of FGs mandate, while also calling them shite.

  13. Good. That change was not going to make a meaningful difference, and complicate our tax system, hich seems to already confuse too many people.
