  1. I am laughing my ass off right now. Switzerland an ethnostate? Are you kidding me? This is a very diverse country and is only getting more diverse as time passes.

This is obviously a right winger, trying to justify his racist beliefs. He takes a successful country like Switzerland and hijacks its good name, to declare it an ethnostate in order to be able to claim that turning a country into an ethnostate (which realistically can only be done through genocide and physical extermination) is guaranteeing its economic success. What a moron. These are the same people who claim that Japan is an ideal ethnostate while in reality, Japan has a buttload of problems and is currently on a great path towards economic and societal collapse. Just look at the demographics, GDP since 1990 and national debt of Japan and you will notice that this is not an anime wonderland but a nation in steep decline.

Wanna know what these guys don’t want to talk about? Countries like Croatia or Somalia who meet the definition of an ethnostate but are never mentioned because they are not too successful. Doesn’t quite fit into their world view, so just ignore it, right?

These guys are fascists and therefore liars who are using my country as a justification for their dumb ideas and I am pissed.

  2. This person is bullshit! I’m a chocolate color Swiss citizen

Switzerland doesn’t care of race, they only care about assimilation

Edit: I’m milk chocolate color (Migros Budget)

Edit 2: I meant integration, not assimilation

  3. Isn’t it written in the constitution that Switzerland is a “Willensnation” as a nation out of consent? Do I misremember historyclass?

  4. Ah yes, Switzerland, which has 25.7% (2021, Statista.com) of people with migration background, is a state that allows only one ethnicity.

Edit: foreign citizens, not ppl with migration background

  5. Switzerland is a *thermostate*.

Too much, people complain, too little, people also complain.

When there’s nothing to complain, there’s something else we should find to complain, just to amuse ourselves.

    *Ad aeternum*.

  6. “When stupid racist people have an idea of what their ideal country is like but have never experienced it firsthand.” It also applies to Scandinavian countries, as Norway was frequently romanticised by the last US President and held up for its successes being due to population controls and policies.

  7. That’s funny because according to the Federal Statistical Office, the most common family names in Romandie are da Silva, Ferreira, Pereira, dos Santos, Rodrigues, … [https://www.rts.ch/info/suisse/13332876-da-silva-ou-favre-quel-est-le-nom-de-famille-le-plus-repandu-dans-votre-commune.html](https://www.rts.ch/info/suisse/13332876-da-silva-ou-favre-quel-est-le-nom-de-famille-le-plus-repandu-dans-votre-commune.html)

Take a look at the players’ family name in our football national team that will play the upcoming World Cup 2022 [https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Équipe_de_Suisse_de_football#Équipe_actuelle](https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Équipe_de_Suisse_de_football#Équipe_actuelle)

Same thing in the army or at school (before college where there’s a bunch of international students) and you’ll see that we’re all Swiss yet so diverse. I grew up surrounded by second gen immigrants from Argentina, Sri Lanka, Congo, Cameroon, Malaysia, South Korea, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Albania, … Articles and personal experience tell me it’s just not true at all (I’m not Caucasian for reference).

  8. Basel looks a lot more diverse than this person suggests it should be. Hell, rural Baselland looks more diverse than this person suggests. This is one of those “I’ve never been to Switzerland, but I saw a movie once”, from their own racist movie studios casting white actors in every role for Swiss people.

  9. A random guy over internet told me he is Swiss of Arab origin .He was born ,raised in Switzerland and can speak German well still he feels outclassed because even if you grow up in Switzerland and speak their launguage, they will still not accept you because you look different .

So the guy may be correct.
