Mayor Nico Pundel saying Metal isn’t music.

  1. It’d be fun to find a public spot in Strassen where there’s some ‘no music allowed’ sign and blast some brutal shit, they couldn’t complain as it’s not music, could they? =)

  2. Everyone contact the muncipality ans *ask nicely* why the mayor does not see metal as music, what he considers music and when where the line between music and noise is?

    edit; done

  3. This is infuriating, it just show how religious some of the politician still are in Luxembourg. This have to stop, especially that close to the city center. Metal is music and it is the kind that attract the most genuine and caring music lover.

How this can still happen in 2022?

  4. I’m not a fan of metal, but just because you don’t like a certain style of music doesn’t give you the right to deny it to others. This is just plain stupid.

  5. WHAT THE FUCK! SINCE WHEN DOES THE MAJOR DECIDE WHATS MUSIC AND WHATS JUST “NOISE”

this is some real bs and i hate it

  6. Who is he to decide what’s music and what’s not. We live in a free country where everybody is free to listen to the music he likes. I see already the Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth .. ….CD’s burn on the funeral pyre.

The ministry of Culture should immediately condem this action and revoke this/his decision.

And Pundel shall burn in hell, with all of us

  7. Wann ech sou eppes scho liesen🤦🏼‍♂️ Alt erëm typesch Lëtzebuerg, vill glëck awer.

  8. It’s always something with the municipality of Strassen …. I remember when they defended that painter who stole from an Asian’s artist photography for his painting and everyone from that municipality defended him lol

  9. Music (especially loud varieties like metal) can cause disturbance to neighboring residences and businesses. So if there is a noise ordinance in effect in Strassen, they can prevent the festival

There was a petition circulating on this sub the other day to ban smoking in outdoor areas in restaurants on the same harm principle. It just depends on where you think the line should be drawn between allowinf you to express your own liberty and protecting the liberty of others not to participate

  10. Lol, deet mer leed fir ierch! Ech selwer sin an der Branche täteg, an wann ech sou eppes heieren kann ech just den kapp reselen…

  11. I was not going to the festival. Now I might.
I’ll at least buy tickets to support them.

  12. I love metal, big times, but something in the bourgmesters reply had me thinking…Maybe the phrase “Metal is no music” was taken a bit out of context? He could have meant “Metal is not the orchestra that I thought was meant by the request for a festival with music”? Imho, the organizers should have clearly stated, on paper and during talks with the administration, that it was an open air metal concert right off the bat. If the organizers hadn’t left it a bit vague, there’d be no panic to find a new location. Some problems are easily prevented if people are a bit more careful to communicate properly, ergo, to explain things clearly. It’s like saying “I’ll come to your house with a couple of friends for the party” and then, 3 days before the event, someone tells you “Yeah there’s like 100+ people coming”. Just as an example.
