Czechs will not issue humanitarian visa to Russians fleeing mobilisation

  1. “Now my ox is being gored” is not a reason for a humanitarian visa.

Russian people have been complicit in this for 7+ months. And they have watched non-ethnic Russian minorities get chewed up in the grist mill, watched their country commit tens of thousands of war crimes, and have been perfectly fine with Continental and global destabilization until it was them vaguely affected. Fuck them.

  2. >I understand that Russians are fleeing from ever more desperate decisions by Putin. But those running because they don’t want to fulfill a duty imposed by their own government, they don’t meet the criteria for humanitarian visa

Makes sense. A humanitarian visas are given when the receiver can show that they are subject to persecution or substantial discrimination amounting to a gross violation of their human rights in their home country.

  3. I would only allow humanitarian visas for draftees who were drafted as punishment protesting against Putin’s regime. That is happening and may qualify as a form of political persecution.
