“Red Steed” – a few weeks back I snapped a shot of this awesome car from the 80’s it’s a soviet built Lada VAZ 2106. I remember these cars being everywhere when I was a kid.
Regardless of which model it was we called them all “Žigulys”. Now spotting one is a rare event. And it always brings out some nostalgic feelings. It’s like a little time capsule on wheels from a different time.
I knew I wanted to add some kind of street art on the wall and after jumping through a bunch ideas a portrait of Vytautas Kernagis just felt so right. While this car was roaming the streets he was releasing albums and being a great entertainer. In one of his songs he recites poems by Sigitas Geda called Strazdas from 1967 and in it, the poet mentions “wide red steeds” so I just had to make the car red which really added to the composition aswell.
The robot with a cigarrette adds some retro future flavor to the overall picture making it complete.
I just really like this piece ☺️ all the political context aside I love how it turned out.
Hope you guys dig it aswell ✌️

Kaip visada – super:)
Geras. Ačiū!
Norėčiau tokį Kernagį pamatyti gyvai ant sienos. Labai gerai atrodo.
Gražus Kernagis, spėju užtrukai kol gavai tokį vaizdą 🙂
